STATEMENT

Sailing has been part of my life for 25 years. With more than 20,000 nautical miles across the Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic, I have sailed a wide range of waters and gained experience in different roles, from crew member and watch leader to skipper. In 2017, I completed two Atlantic crossings in opposite directions, including the ARC+.

I am a confident and independent sailor, comfortable with all aspects of handling a boat, from steering and navigation to sail handling, manoeuvring and mooring. I have extensive experience working at the foredeck, including with gennakers and spinnakers, and have been involved in repairs aloft. Having sailed both monohulls and catamarans, I am comfortable adapting to different boats and sailing conditions. I am familiar with night sailing, extended passages and solo watchkeeping, and can assess weather conditions independently and remain confident at the helm in challenging weather. I am comfortable maintaining focus throughout long watches and adapt well to the rhythms of life offshore, including getting sufficient rest between watches, even when conditions are less than ideal.

For me, being a good sailor is about more than technical skills. It also means knowing when to take initiative, when to communicate and when to rely on others. I am comfortable taking responsibility and working independently, while fully respecting the skipper's authority and the command structure on board. I understand that there is one skipper, and that a good crew supports their decisions while speaking up when something needs attention.

Sailing has taught me to stay calm under pressure, adapt to changing conditions and focus on practical solutions. These are qualities I have continued to develop throughout my professional career as a producer, working with complex projects, tight deadlines and large teams. I enjoy the practical side of life on board just as much as the teamwork that makes a long passage work. I cook well, even in rough conditions, am happy to get involved wherever needed and understand the importance of being considerate when living and working closely with others.

I am currently between jobs, which gives me the flexibility to take on another Atlantic crossing in November 2026. Ideally, I am looking to join the ARC+, bringing my experience, practical skills and commitment to a well prepared boat and a capable crew.
